“The Buford Highway Replacement Project is key to our ability to continue to serve this high-density, high-growth corridor,” said Dean Marianos, Vice President of Operations for Atlanta Gas Light. “We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to meet its growing needs.”

Crews will replace natural gas mains on Buford Highway from Central Avenue to Old Norcross Road. The first phase will start from Central Ave. to Oakcliff Road. The second phase will go from Lake Drive up to Jimmy Carter Blvd with the final phase from Norcross-Tucker Road to north of Beaver Ruin Road.

Atlanta Gas Light said that lanes will be shut down for the first phase each night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

This isn’t the only project that neighbors in Doraville will keep their eyes on.

Back in February, city leaders and Sen. Jon Ossoff announced federal funding for safety upgrades along Buford Highway through Doraville at the major intersections of McElroy Road, Oakcliff Road, Longmire Way and Interstate 285.

The improvements range from new audible push buttons at crosswalks to raising the sidewalks for more separation between foot traffic and the cars speeding by.
