Making A Difference of Lebanon, PA receives Nonprofit of the Year from chamber of commerce

Making A Difference of Lebanon, PA was named Nonprofit of the Year during the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce's chamber breakfast at StoneRidge Poplar Run in Myerstown on Wednesday.

Nonprofit of the Year is awarded to a non-profit within the chamber, nominations for the award have to talk about the accomplishments that they've made within the last year. The nominations are put in front of a group of chamber members to review based on a rubric, and it chooses three finalists.

Those three finalists then spoke at the chamber's networking with nonprofits event, where individuals attending the event voted for a winner.

President of the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce Karen Groh said that Making A Difference of Lebanon, PA has done tremendous things over its 10 years of existence.

"We're very honored and thank the chamber of commerce for the award," said Cornell Wilson, founder and president of the board for Making A Difference of Lebanon, PA. "A lot goes out to our volunteers and our board for all their hard work and time, and to people who supported us. We're just happy that people know what we do and that we're making a little difference in the community."

Making A Difference of Lebanon, PA holds events throughout the year that focus on education and the youth of the community such as book drives, STEM and theater camps and poetry and scholarship contests.

The organization gives away over 1,000 books to children in Lebanon County throughout the year.

It also hosts and partners with organizations all over the county for events such as an annual Toiletries and Sock collection drive, Adopt a Family event, Trunk or Treat, and Kids Day at Camp Rocky Creek.

Making A Difference of Lebanon, PA also holds a yearly back-to-school festival alongside United Way of Lebanon County and other local organizations in the parking lot of the Lebanon Valley YMCA that distributes hundreds of backpacks and school supplies to students throughout the county.
