Making it work: San Joaquin school has done in-person learning safely

Collegeville Elementary School just outside of Stockton is a tiny school of 134 students, set among agricultural fields. Thanks to a waiver provided by San Joaquin County, it has been operating on-campus since October 2020. Since it's reintroduced in-person learning, the school said it's only had one student and two teachers test positive for COVID-19. In her classroom, between plastic desk dividers, everybody wearing masks and everybody socially distanced, second-grade teacher Angelica Vargas has been able to continue the job she's passionate about without having to do it remotely.
