Malaysian ambulance driver heads to fatal crash site and makes horrifying discovery

A Malaysian ambulance driver responded to a road accident site to find that his 21-year-old son was involved in a fatal crash.

Mohd Taqwa Ismail, a 49-year-old ambulance driver for Sungai Tong Health Clinic, responded to an emergency call regarding a collision on Nov. 6 at about 4:30 p.m. local time in Terengganu, Malaysia.

When Ismail arrived at the scene, he immediately recognized his son’s motorcycle on the road.

“In the 21 years I have worked as an ambulance driver, that was the first time I had been faced with a situation involving a family member. Only Allah knows the sorrow I felt at the time,” Taqwa told the New Straits Times.

His son, Muhammad Aiman, was involved in a crash with a lorry. Aiman was reportedly on his way home to Sungai Tong from Kuala Nerus when the collision occurred near a palm oil factory at KM38 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru.

According to Setiu police chief Deputy Superintendent Afandi Hussin, Aiman died at the scene from injuries to his head.

“Aiman, who was riding a Honda EX5, was said to have tried to overtake another vehicle and crashed into the lorry which was coming from the opposite direction,” Hussin said.

The driver of the lorry was not injured in the incident. Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, according to reports.

The 21-year-old had only been working at the Taman Tamadan Islam landscape unit for five months when the accident occurred.

“Usually, Aiman would bring food to work but yesterday he said he wanted to have dinner at home,” Taqwa told the New Straits Times. “Coincidentally, the day before I managed to fry some fish I brought back from a trip to Tasik Kenyir. He had eaten that and then asked to keep some so he could eat it yesterday.”

Aiman, who is the second child of five, was described by Taqwa as someone who was popular and could easily adapt to any situation. He was buried at the Felda Belara Muslim cemetery on Monday.

TikTok user @amirulayraff.ff, who appears to be a friend of Aiman, posted a video to honor his friend.

“One of our good friends had departed,” he reportedly wrote. “From kindergarten until age 21 we never lost contact, while we continued to study in different schools. Aiman was full of laughter and always made people happy.”
