This Malaysian clown has found a new role in lockdown:

disinfecting people’s homes

Shaharul Hisam Baharudin saw his income as an entertainer dry up

after lockdowns put a stop to large parties and gatherings

Since then, he has adapted his smoke machine as a disinfection device

while entertaining children in households

(SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Malaysia) DISINFECTANT SERVICE PROVIDER WHO DRESSES AS CLOWN, SHAHARUL HISAM BAHARUDIN, SAYING:

"(Disinfectant) services like this are provided everywhere now, but my style is different. My emphasis is more about trying to create a fun atmosphere and it's different from others. So I come and appear like this. Since children cannot go out or go to the mall and they are spending more time at home, maybe they feel stressed. Even adults are stressed, so maybe children feel it too. So with this kind of appearance, maybe I can entertain them and cheer them up, while disinfecting their house. And I can make them happy, even if it's just for a short time."
