Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz has revealed how the show could be revived.
For seven seasons between 2000 and 2006, Muniz played the titular kid genius opposite future Breaking Bad sensation Bryan Cranston.
Seventeen years on from the series finale, the actor appeared on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast to explain his and Cranston's interest in a Malcolm revival and what it would take to make it happen.

According to Muniz, who's since appeared as versions of himself in both Arrested Development and Preacher, Cranston and two screenwriters have been trying to figure out what a revival series could look like "for the last couple of years".
"The only — I don't want to call it a hiccup, because it's not a hiccup. The creator of the show, Linwood Boomer, when we contacted him, he was like, 'I think it would be amazing, but I don't want to do it'," Muniz explained.
"He's like, 'Because I just don't have time, because I'm focused on my charity and I'm focused on this. If you get these two writers to be involved, it'll have my blessing, if what they come up with is good'."
"I have a greater appreciation of even what the show is and was and would love to dive in with all of those people again to do it. And in that same sense, that was 2014 or whatever when we really started talking about it," Muniz continued.
"So many shows have been rebooted, and so many shows shouldn't have been rebooted. So I don't wanna be like just one of those shows — it has to make sense, it has to be good. So we'll see."
