Malfunctioned Fire Alarm Fills Street with Bubbles After Earthquake Jolts Tokyo Area

A fire extinguisher at a local shop malfunctioned and released a large swath of bubbles into the street after a 5.9 magnitude earthquake jolted the Tokyo region on October 7.

This video, filmed by Hideki Abe, shows bubbles floating around the street in Adachi, an area north of Tokyo, as police officers direct pedestrians and street traffic away.

More than 20 people were injured by the earthquake, reports said.

The Japan Meteorological Agency had initially reported the magnitude at 6.1 but later revised their measurement to 5.9, according to reports. Credit: Hideki Abe via Storyful
