Mall adds youth escort policy
A new weekend youth escort policy took effect Friday at The Mall in Columbia. All mall guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old. The curfew begins at 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. While some shoppers praised the new policy, others questioned it. Mall officials hope it makes for a better environment for shoppers. Trained security officers will be at the doorways checking identifications of anyone who appears to be under 18. If they pass, the youth will be offered wristbands.
