Malls closing their doors on Thanksgiving. Who's shutting down for the holiday?

No shopping on turkey day?

Simon Properties, the nation's largest retailer, has announced that many of its malls will now be closed on Thanksgiving, and other local malls and retailers will do the same.

Many will instead open earlier on Black Friday.

Here's a breakdown of area malls and supermarkets that will shutdown:

What's open on Thanksgiving?

Simon Properties, of Indianapolis, owns the King of Prussia and Oxford Valley malls.

King of Prussia and Oxford Valley Mall will close on Thanksgiving, the company announced this week. Both will re-open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday. The company issued a statement and did not say why it was choosing to close on the holiday, but retailers nationwide in recent years have moved away from holiday hours.

When contacted, a spokesperson for the Montgomery Mall said also they planned to close on Thanksgiving while an official decision was not yet announced. The Montgomery Mall said it plans to re-open at 7 a.m. for Black Friday shoppers.

Owned by Brookfield Properties, the Neshaminy Mall in Bensalem also plans to close on Thanksgiving. Stores will re-open at 9 a.m. on Black Friday, managers said.

Managers of the Willow Grove Park Mall and Cherry Hill Mall could not immediately be reached for comment and their websites did not indicate whether they would close on Thanksgiving.

Big Lots open on Thanksgiving; Best Buy, Target and Walmart opening early on Black Friday

For Bucks Shopping itching to start holiday shopping, Big Lots will open at 7 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Otherwise, many of the other big-box stores will open early on Black Friday.

Walmart recently announced that it would close all stores on Thanksgiving for the fourth year in a row. Walmart currently operates several stores and supercenters in the Bucks County, with outlets located in Bensalem, Levittown, Quakertown, Warminster and Warrington, among others.

Target also announced in 2021 that it would never again open stores on the Thanksgiving holiday.

Best Buy and Walmart will open at 5 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.

Target shoppers will have to wait a little while longer, as area Target locations will open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday.
