Malvern boys basketball head coach Dennis Tucci receives 2023 Paul Walker Award

Malvern boys basketball coach Dennis Tucci is the recipient of the 2023 Paul Walker Award,

The award is presented annually by the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association to an active coach who has made significant contributions to high school basketball. It is named in honor of the late Paul Walker, a longtime Middletown coach who had the most boys basketball wins in state history when he retired.

A 1979 Malvern graduate, Tucci has a 567-348 record in 39 seasons as a head coach at Malvern, Louisville, Marlington and Parkersburg Catholic. In 29 years at his alma mater, he is 473-218 with four league championships, 19 sectional titles (including 16 straight) and six district titles.

“For three decades, Coach Tucci has built a winning culture and climate in the Malvern boys basketball program," Brown Local Schools Superintendent Mark Scott said in a release. "More importantly, Denny Tucci has dedicated his career to making a positive impact on the lives of his players and students by teaching life lessons such as leadership, commitment, and dedication.

"Malvern High School and the entire Malvern community are proud and fortunate to call Coach Tucci one of our own."

Tucci has received many league and district coaching honors during his career. He served as the District 5 director from 2000-02 and is currently as a liaison for District 5. In 2008, coached in the OHSBCA North-South All-Star Game.
