Malvern, Carrollton ranked in final Ohio Associated Press boys basketball poll for 2022-23

The Malvern Hornets climbed to a tie for No. 4 in Division III in the final 2022-23 Associated Press boys high school basketball state poll, released Monday.

The 21-1 Hornets are seeded No. 1 in their sectional-district and open tournament play Tuesday at home vs. No. 15-seed Richmond Edison.

Carrollton (19-3) is the only other Stark County-area team in the state rankings. The Warriors jumped a spot to No. 9 in Division II this week despite a loss to Indian Valley in their regular season finale.

Carrollton, seeded No. 3 in its sectional-district, opens tournament play Tuesday at home against No. 16 River View.

The final girls basketball state poll was released last week.
