Malvern man accused in shooting that left Canton man with life-threatening injuries

CANTON – A 37-year-old Malvern man was arrested on a warrant after being accused of shooting another man on 15th Street NW.

Canton police were called around 10:53 p.m. Wednesday to the 1300 block of 15th Street NW for a shooting victim.

Police found a 23-year-old Canton man in a carport area of an apartment building. He was unresponsive and had several gunshot wounds to his lower body, the report said.

The Canton Fire Department transported the man to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital with life-threatening wounds, police said.

Investigators determined the identity of the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant with the help of the Stark County Prosecutor's Office. The suspect was later arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

He is charged with felonious assault and having weapons while under disability, and was booked in the Stark County Jail.
