Strasburg ramped up its defense over the final two quarters and rolled to a 58-32 win over Malvern.

The Lady Tigers led 32-24 at the break, and went on to outscore Malvern 17-5 in the third stanza and 9-3 over the final eight minutes of regulation.

Lanie Bower had a strong game with 17 points and three assists, Maddie Powers finished with 11 points and four rebounds, and Emma Debo had three points and two assists.

“I thought the girls did a nice job in the first half with our game plan defensively,” stated Head Coach Jason Powers. “We limited their points in the paint, and stayed close on the boards. Offensively, Lanie kept us in the game the first quarter, scoring all 12 of our points. The second quarter Maddie had 9 points and Emma had three. We need to do a better job of getting more girls involved in our offense for scoring opportunities.

“The second half was a tale of two defenses. Their defense had us on our heels and our on-ball defense was just plain bad. Strasburg is a good team, but we need to put together four quarters of basketball on both ends of the court as the season winds down and looking toward tournaments.”
