MAMAMOO’s Hwasa reported to police for public indecency during live performance

MAMAMOO member Hwasa has been reported to the police following an "indecent performance" accusation.

What happened: Hwasa was filming at the Sungkyunkwan University Festival as part of the tvN series "Dancing Queens on the Road," in which she is a cast member. During her performance of the solo song "Don't Give Me," the MAMAMOO rapper and singer made a gesture that stirred controversy. The gesture involved her suggestively touching her pelvic area.

The report: The Student Parent's Rights Protection Union filed a complaint against Hwasa, claiming that her gestures during the performance were suggestive of a perverted sexual act, causing embarrassment and shame to the public. They alleged that Hwasa's gesture does not align with the choreography and cannot be interpreted as performance art.

The Seongdong Police Station in Seoul confirmed that they have received the complaint and are currently investigating the claims.

Hwasa’s agency P Nation briefly commented, “We understand that the police are reviewing the case.”

Hwasa and P Nation: Earlier this month, Hwasa officially joined P Nation, the K-pop agency founded by "Gangnam Style" singer Psy. This move came shortly after her departure from longtime agency RBW. Hwasa is the second member of MAMAMOO to leave RBW, following Wheein in 2021.
