Man, 22, dies in fatal Northeast El Paso wreck

A 22-year-old man died after a vehicle failed to yield the right of way, causing the man's motorcycle to crash into the back of the vehicle, officials said.

Bakari Jovann Mosley was driving a 2015 Yamaha YZF motorcycle about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 8000 block of Magnetic Street in Northeast El Paso when he crashed into a 2016 Kia Sorento, El Paso Police Department officials said.

The Kia was being driven by 46-year-old Yvette Harris south on Magnetic Street when she attempted to turn left at the intersection of Magnetic Street and Volcanic Avenue.

Harris is accused of failing to yield the right of way to Mosley, who was driving north on Magnetic Street, officials said.

Mosley then crashed into the back of the Kia. The collision caused Mosley, who was wearing a helmet, to be thrown from his motorcycle, officials said.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but later died due to the injuries he suffered in the crash, officials said.

Police believe Harris' alleged failure to yield the right of way was the cause of the accident and that Mosley's speed also might have been a contributing factor in the fatal wreck.

This is the 14th fatal traffic-related accident of 2023, compared to 16 at the same time last year, officials said.
