Man, 30, fatally shot on South Side; 60-year-old man taken into custody, police say

A 30-year-old man was fatally shot on the South Side Saturday night after an argument turned into fight and a 60-year-old man was taken into custody, according to Chicago police.

The shooting occurred about 8:25 p.m. in the 100 block of West Swaan Street in The Robert Taylor Homes, police said.

Two people started arguing, and it escalated into a physical fight, police said. Then one person took out a handgun and shot the man in the leg.

Chicago Fire Department treated the man at the scene, but he was pronounced soon afterward, police said.

The suspect stayed at the scene and was taken into custody, police said. Charges are pending.

A weapon wasn’t recovered from the scene, police said.
