Man, 67, fatally shot at Brooklyn corner as he walked with a cane

A masked gunman riding a bicycle fatally shot a 67-year-old man walking with a cane at a Brooklyn intersection Saturday morning, police and a witness said.

Cops responding to a report of a man shot found the victim lying in the street at 10:50 a.m. at the corner of Atlantic Ave. and Williams Ave., on the border of East New York and Cypress Hills.

The victim had two gun wounds in his chest, cops said.

“He was walking with some sort of cane when they came up behind him,” said a witness who wished to be identified only as Anthony. “They didn’t rob him or anything. Usually when you get shot you get robbed.”

”He was lying face up. The cops came really quick,” said Anthony. “So did the ambulance. They tried to revive him.”

A black cane, believed to be the victim’s, was found near his body.

EMS rushed the victim to Brookdale University Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. His name was not immediately released as cops track down family members.

The gunman, wearing a black ski mask and a black jacket, pedaled off heading west on Atlantic Ave., cops said. No arrests have been made.

Cops scoured the area Saturday looking for clues to the gunman’s identity.
