Man accused of chasing customers with knife outside of Monroe restaurant

A man is accused of chasing customers with a knife outside of a restaurant on Monday, according to the Monroe Police Department.

Police responded to Logan’s Roadhouse on West Roosevelt Boulevard just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Investigators say the bizarre and scary incident started as customers were enjoying their evening Monday, at Logans Roadhouse off Highway 74.

The suspect, Thomas parker, then randomly made an inappropriate comment to a woman at the bar.

“The bartender told him he needed to leave, that they weren’t going to tolerate that,” said Police Lieutenant Steve Morton.

But Morton says once in the parking lot Parker continued to yell at the woman prompting two other customers to check in on her.

“It turned bad quickly. He rips off his shirt, pulls out a long fixed knife and starts chasing them,” said Morton.

This is the knife Police say Parker had while chasing those three customers who were able to run back inside of lock the door.

“All of them were very surprised they had no idea it was going to lead to that,” said Morton.

Police say when they arrived Parker was wandering through this parking lot between Lowes and Logans and then ran into the woods.

A few hours later officers say they found parker inside a tent not too far from where this all began.

Police say he still had the knife and was taken to jail.

Morton says the victim and good Samaritans were shaken up but thankfully are okay.

Officers charged Parker with assault with a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and possession of marijuana. He is currently being held in the Union County jail under a $40,000 bond.
