Man accused of lewd conduct at Stewartville pool

Oct. 17—ROCHESTER — A 57-year-old Cresco, Iowa, man is accused of touching himself sexually several months ago a public pool in Stewartville, according to new charges filed in Olmsted County District Court.

Scott David Quam is charged with fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct by masturbation and lewd exhibition with someone under 16 present and indecent exposure in the presence of a minor under 16, both gross misdemeanors.

He is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 30.

According to the criminal complaint:

An Olmsted County deputy took a report on Sept. 3 at the Stewartville city pool that Quam had exposed and touched himself in front of children.

The deputy spoke to three witnesses who reported seeing Quam at the pool where he exposed himself in August and September.

One witness confronted Quam and brought him to the pool office where he apologized and provided his name and phone number.

A detective with the sheriff's office traveled to Iowa to speak with Quam, who said that he was swimming in the pool with old swim trunks on that fell down and exposed his penis. He denied touching himself at the pool but admitted to swimming at the pool in September and August.
