Man accused of murdering wife appears in court

A man accused of murdering his wife as she pushed her baby in a pram in Bradford, is to stand trial in December.

Habibur Masum, 25, from Burnley is accused of fatally stabbing 27-year-old Kulsuma Akter, from Oldham, on 6 April.

Dressed in a grey tracksuit Mr Masum appeared at Bradford Crown Court on Friday charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.

He did not enter a plea during the 20-minute hearing, speaking only to confirm his name before being remanded into custody ahead of his trial, which is due to start on 2 December.

Ms Akter died in hospital after being attacked in the Westgate area of Bradford. Her baby was not harmed.

Mr Masum is next due to appear in court on 25 July.
