Man accused of sexually assaulting teen on CTA train

CHICAGO — A Chicago man is facing a felony charge in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teen girl on a CTA train over the weekend.

According to Chicago, police 27-year-old Anfernee Thomas, an Austin resident, has been charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Authorities say the charge stems from the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl that unfolded on a Purple Line train, just before 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the victim told officers that she was riding the train when she was allegedly approached by Thomas and sexually assaulted.

Thomas was taken into custody on the scene and the victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Thomas appeared in court on Tuesday for a detention hearing.
