LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Twenty-one-year-old Nikhil Mathur faces five charges of possession of child pornography, Level 5 felonies.

Mathur, who is from Overland Park, Kansas, lives in Village West Apartments in West Lafayette, according to prosecutors. He's accused of uploading several child porn videos to social media platforms in November 2021, according to prosecutors.

Police served a search warrant in July 2022 at Mathur's apartment and seized his electronic devices, including his phone. The devices had child porn on them, according to prosecutors.

The girls in the some of the videos appeared to be around 12 years old. All of the girls appeared to be younger than 18, according to prosecutors.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children tipped off local law enforcement of the possible uploads. Police tracked the uploads back to Mathur, according to prosecutors.
