Man accused of violently attacking woman in Darke Co., holding her hostage for multiple days

Investigators are working to bring a man back to the Miami Valley to face charges for a violent attack.

Police arrested Bradley Boyer in Indiana Monday in relation to a stabbing that happened in Union City in Darke County.

Union City police said the victim was not able to get help for several days after being badly beaten and stabbed.

Police said the victim lived with the suspect.

Our News Center 7 crews were there when officers went inside the home on East Carmel Street Tuesday.

“There’s a lot of blood throughout different rooms, there’s some puncture holes and some of the furniture from where he described, the incident took place. There’s a lot of blood in the furniture,” Mark Ater, Chief of Union City Police Department said.

A normally quiet block is now part of an investigation.

“I hardly ever see any cops around here or anything like that,” Jake Combs who visited the area often said.

Ater said investigators got a search warrant to go inside the home a day after Boyer was arrested.

Police believe the stabbing happened in the home last Friday and the victim was held against her will that night.

“The male that was involved, Bradley Boyer, then took her from this residence after not letting her leave throughout the night get home to her from this residence and went to Redkey, Indiana early Saturday morning. It’s my understanding that she was kept inside of an apartment until yesterday morning where she was able to reach out to a neighbor,” Ater said.

Law enforcement caught up with Boyer and took him into custody in Redkey, Indiana — more than 20 miles away from Union City.

“It’s sad. I feel bad for the victim in this case. I mean she was badly beaten and wasn’t able to get medical care. No one should have to go through this,” Ater said.

Neighbors told News Center 7 that Boyer moved onto the street recently but not much was known about him.

“I think he was more a keep to himself, stay inside kind of guy,” Combs said.

As the victim recovers at a hospital in Indiana, some are just trying to wrap their brain around what happened.

“I mean it’s horrible, horrible, especially in a town like this,” Combs said.

Police said Boyer and the victim were known to each other.

He will face an extradition hearing in Indiana so police can bring him back to Darke County.
