Man armed with taser steals French Bulldog in Northeast DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is trying to find a French Bulldog puppy who was stolen from his owner in Northeast, D.C. on Saturday.

A man with a taser approached a woman as she was walking into her building at about 4 p.m. He demanded her dog and she complied – he fled eastbound on Monroe St., N.E. in a black Nissan with tinted windows and paper tags.

“It looked like he had a taser in his hand – it didn’t look like a gun, it looked like a taser and he was holding it out and [had] his other hand in his pocket and he was like, ‘Give me your dog or I’m gonna kill you,'” the dog’s owner, Teffiney Worthy, said.

The dog is described as a six-month-old French Bulldog named “Hendrix.” He has brown and white coloring.

Hendrix was stolen from Worthy just months after her previous dog drowned in a flood at District Dogs, a doggy daycare in Northeast, D.C.

Worthy said in an interview with DC News Now that the man came up to her while she was trying to put in a code to get to her building.

“I was shaking so I just didn’t have enough coordination or time to put the code in to get me and Hendrix in safely,” she said.
