A man allegedly saw Florida’s injury cart sitting outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and decided to take it for a drive.

According to the Gainesville Sun, Florida’s injury cart was sitting outside the stadium with the keys still in it. At approximately, 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning, Parker Lee Prince allegedly took the cart for a joyride.

Nearly four hours later, police found Parker at a Circle K gas station at 3525 SW 34th St., where he had driven the cart some 2.7 miles from Southwest 35th Place.

During the ride, Parker damaged the cart’s fender, which caused an estimated $1,000 in damage, police said.

Parker has been charged with criminal mischief and grand theft with property damage because of the escapade. We have no idea why he (allegedly) dropped it off at a Circle K (maybe the cart needed gas?) but the thought process to drop the cart off at a gas station was probably similar to the thought process in taking it for a ride in the first place.

This is also a good lesson to not leave the keys in any type of motor vehicle that’s left unattended.

The alleged cart theft came hours after Florida’s comeback 35-31 win over South Carolina. That game was not without a bit of controversy. Quarterback Feleipe Franks shushed his own fans after scoring touchdowns during the game because he had been booed in the team’s previous game vs. Missouri.
