Man arrested after allegedly pointing rifle at victims in Gray

GRAY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Johnson City man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly pointed a rifle at two victims, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reports.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, James Nickles, 50, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault following the incident, which reportedly took place in the 500 block of Hales Chapel Road.

The release said one victim told officers that Nickles allegedly pulled a rifle on him and a second victim, putting them in fear for their lives. The sheriff’s office said Nickles fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival but was later located and apprehended in Carter County.

Nickles was taken to the Washington County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond, the release said.
