Man arrested after allegedly raping 4-year-old in McDonald's play area bathroom

Oklahoma authorities are investigating after a man allegedly raped a 4-year-old girl inside the bathroom of a McDonald's in Midwest City.

Joshua David Kabatra, 37, was arrested on two complaints of first-degree rape and one complaint of lewd acts with a child in connection with the July 16 incident, KFOR reports.

Daycare employees who were watching the victim told police they became concerned when the 4-year-old went into the bathroom in the play area of the restaurant by herself and didn't return "for a while."

The caretakers said they knocked on the door for some time before Kabatra came out with his arms in the air and claimed, "I was just washing my hands."

Authorities who responded to the scene spoke with the suspect, who allegedly told them he was in the playground area when he started to feel sick and went to the bathroom, where he found the child sitting on the toilet. Kabatra claimed he then threw up in the sink and washed his hands before leaving the bathroom.

When caretakers asked the child if and where Kabatra touched her, the 4-year-old said "yes" and pointed to her genital region, KOKH reports.

"Apparently, he had gone inside the bathroom where the little girl was, and at that point, he had molested the child," Brandon Clables, Midwest City police chief, told the station.

In a statement, McDonald's said, "Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers."

"We are deeply disturbed by the incident that occurred at one of our Oklahoma restaurants earlier this week," the company added. "We are fully cooperating with the police during their investigation. At this time, our thoughts are with the victim and others impacted by this incident."
