Man arrested for bringing gun to high school sports game, deputies say

CHIPLEY, Fla (WDHN) — A Chipley man has been arrested after Florida deputies said he brought a gun to a high school basketball game.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday night, sheriff deputies assigned to guard a Chipley High School Basketball Game noticed a man cheering in the bleachers with a gun in his waistband.

A release from the WCSO says the man, identified as 22-year-old Taqaruis McKinnie, was immediately taken into custody, and deputies secured the handgun.

McKinnie is charged with possessing a weapon on school property.

The Chipley High School Basketball Schedule revealed they were playing the Holmes County Blue Devils Thursday night.
