Man arrested, charged with seriously abusing child in Stanly County: Sheriff

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A man and woman are both behind bars in connection with serious child abuse, according to the Stanly County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say they learned of the abuse on February 28; however, details of what happened have not been released to the public.

Following an investigation, 30-year-old Basil Fritz III, was arrested on March 15 and charged with Felony Intentional Child Abuse Serious Bodily Injury and Assault Inflicting Serious Injury with a Minor Present.

He is being held under a $75,000 secured bond at the Stanly County Jail.

Katherine Hatley, 24, was also arrested on March 15 and is charged with Failure to Report Crime Against Juvenile. She was given an unsecured bond.

The pair are expected in court on April 8.
