Man arrested in connection with deadly shooting at South Nashville gas station

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A man was arrested Thursday night in connection with a deadly shooting at a South Nashville gas station.

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Metro police said 46-year-old Behrouz Rezai Dashti was shot at a Mapco located in the 300 block of Harding Place. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

According to a release, Specialized Investigations Division detectives had been looking for 32-year-old Demarco Locust for the past few weeks.

Locust was taken into a custody after a brief pursuit that ended on Hillsboro Pike at I-440. He was taken to police headquarters where he declined to be interviewed.

Detectives believe Dashti and Locust were involved in a dispute over a drug issue, which led to Locust shooting Dashti.

Locust was charged with charged with criminal homicide, felony evading related to the pursuit, and aggravated assault for shooting at his ex-girlfriend’s car in April

No other information was released.
