Man arrested in deadly shooting

AUSTIN, Colo. (KREX) — Delta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 20-year-old Luke Shelton of Grand Junction in connection with a shooting that took place Jan. 4. Officials believe the shooting started after some workers argued with their boss at a ranch near Austin, Colorado. Shelton now faces charges of first-degree murder and tampering with a deceased body, related to the Jan. 4 shooting. Shelton’s bond is set at $500,000. Delta County Sheriff’s identified the victim as 58-year-old John David Viera of Hotchkiss. Shelton is set to appear in a Delta County courtroom in mid-January.
