Man arrested for fatal hit-and-run in Fairfax County

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A man was arrested for a fatal hit-and-run that happened in Woodlawn on Sunday night.

At around 10:50 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Richmond Highway and Brevard Court after a pedestrian was hit by a car that fled the scene. Detectives say 51-year-old Heliodoro Luna-Perez, of Alexandria, was trying to cross Richmond Highway when he was hit by a 2015 Lexus GS 350.

Luna-Perez was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The driver fled the scene and was later found by officers almost two miles away.

Kelechi Uzodinma, 61, of Woodbridge, was charged with felony hit and run and held at the Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 bond. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and speed is still under investigation.
