Man arrested in fatal June 28 shooting on McClure Avenue in Peoria

PEORIA – Peoria police have arrested a man suspected of a June 28 shooting that left a 32-year-old man dead.

Rev I. Blakes, 41, was identified as a suspect by police shortly after the incident and was arrested on Thursday for first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He is currently being held in the Peoria County Jail.

Michael Davis Jr. was shot in the 1100 block of West McClure Avenue and was pronounced dead at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center just over an hour later.

The shooting marked the city's 10th homicide of 2022.
