Man arrested in Grand Junction for alleged kidnapping
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Grand Junction Police officers have arrested a man suspected of kidnapping.
On August 24, a woman called 9-1-1 saying a woman handed her a message asking for help. GJPD officers then detained three men and a woman after a traffic stop in Grand Junction. An investigation determined one of the men, later identified as 28-year-old Lawrense Gonzales had assaulted the woman in Alamosa, Colorado before traveling to Grand Junction.
GJPD officers arrested Gonzales and remanded him to the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
Assault
False imprisonment
Motor vehicle theft
Vehicular eluding
Obstructing a police officer
Domestic violence
Reckless endangerment
Reckless driving
The Grand Junction Victim Service Unit was dispatched to assist the woman after the incident.
The GJPD believes this to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. This is an active police investigation, Western Slope Now will update this story when new information is available.
