Man arrested in Kentucky a week after allegedly stabbing Las Vegas woman to death

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Las Vegas police said a suspect accused of stabbing a Las Vegas woman to death in a southwest valley neighborhood was arrested in Kentucky one week after her murder.

At around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, medical personnel conducted a welfare check at a residence in the 8700 block of Tom Noon Avenue, near South Durango Drive and Blue Diamond Road.

Arriving personnel found a woman who had been stabbed “numerous” times and pronounced her dead at the scene. Medical then notified police, who began investigating the incident as a homicide.

County officials later identified the woman as 33-year-old Breyanna Sotomayor of Las Vegas.

The cause and manner of death have not yet been released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.

According to Las Vegas police, detectives identified 34-year-old David Perry as a suspect in the homicide. On Jan. 31, law enforcement in Louisville, Kentucky took Perry into custody.

Perry will remain in Louisville custody on a warrant for open murder with a deadly weapon, awaiting extradition to Las Vegas.

A booking photo for Perry was not immediately available.
