Two men arrested in killing of Brockton 16-year-old at house party

BROCKTON — Police arrested two men and have issued warrants for one other in the killing of 16-year-old Liedson Terry-Monteiro.

The teen died from a gunshot at a Labor Day weekend house party on Sprague Avenue on Sept. 4, 2021.

Brockton and state police arrested Angel Colon, 22, on Friday at a Brockton address, according to the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz. Authorities also have issued warrants for Malik Cotton, 21 and Angel Vasquez, 23. On Saturday, Brockton and state police arrested Vasquez in Braintree without incident, according to Beth Stone, spokesperson for the DA's office.

Colon and Vasquez, and possibly Cotton, if police find him, are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Brockton District Court on one count of murder each.

Authorities had previously brought charges against two other people in the killing. Alexandria Rodrigues, 21, was charged with perjury. William Houston, 21, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and accessory before the fact.

The night of the shooting, police had received complaints about a loud party in the area of Addison, Sprague and Macy avenues.

Police responded to the area about 1:07 a.m. Shortly after that, the city's electronic gunfire detection system picked up shots near Sprague and Addison.

Police found Terry-Monteiro with a gunshot wound to his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the DA's office said.

In March, the investigation led police to Sunset Lake in Braintree, where divers searched for evidence. At that time, the DA's office told Enterprise news partners WCVB that the divers did not uncover evidence.
