Man arrested for murder of his East Brunswick mom

Three men have been charged in connection with a shooting that took place Friday on Easton Avenue, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Vincent Sabo of the New Brunswick Police Department.

EAST BRUNSWICK - A New York man charged last week with murdering his mother has been arrested in Philadelphia.Jason Gordon, 41, was arrested without incident Tuesday in Philadelphia by the East Brunswick and Philadelphia police departments, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said.

Gordon has been charged with murdering his mother, Carmen Gordon, 68, at a Cozzens Court residence.

Gordon is also charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office has not released any more details of the murder.

At about 11:09 a.m. Thursday, police received a 911 call requesting a welfare check at the residence, Ciccone said.

Authorities made multiple welfare checks of the home before finding the mother unresponsive inside her residence with fatal injuries.

An investigation by Detective Robert Thuring of the East Brunswick Police Department and Detective Kevin Schroeck of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led to the identification of the son as the suspect, Ciccone said.

The investigation is ongoing, Ciccone said.

Cozzens Court is in the Crosspointe community off Route 18 where 77-year-old Daniel Dodera died in a fire on Lear Court in the early morning of Dec. 20.
