Man arrested for murder when he showed up at hospital after being assaulted

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man accused of a November murder was arrested early Thursday morning when he showed up at Huntsville Hospital after being assaulted, according to the Huntsville Police Department.

A spokesperson with the department told News 19 that the murder arrest stems from a shooting on November 21, 2023. Officers arrived at a home on Cobb Road just before midnight that night, where they found 33-year-old Francisco Ramirez had been shot. Ramirez later died from those injuries.

After an investigation, the department issued a murder warrant for Walter Escoria-Gomez.

On April 4, 2024, officers were called to Huntsville Hospital for an assault victim. When they got to the hospital, one of the officers recognized Escoria-Gomez as the suspect from the November shooting.

After the department was able to confirm his identity, he was arrested after he was released from the hospital.

Escoria-Gomez was booked into the Madison County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
