Man arrested after neighbors complain of constant gunfire in his yard

SMITHVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A Bastrop County man was arrested last week following complaints from neighbors that he was constantly shooting firearms on his property.

The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that it carried out a search warrant on Hidden Shores Loop in Smithville after neighbors had complained about the constant shooting, which was happening on a lot that was smaller than the five acres required to legally shoot on a lot in a platted subdivision in Bastrop County.

The neighbors had also reported that the man, who was identified by BCSO as Bo Morkovsky, 31, may have been a convicted felon, and they gave the sheriff’s office a video of him with a firearm.

BCSO noted a convicted felon can possess a firearm on their property if five years have passed since their imprisonment or release from parole.

During the search, BCSO found evidence that “supported the charge of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and other possible firearm related violations.” The post also said illegal drugs were found during the search.

Morkovsky was charged with a state firearm violation, and BCSO said other charges are expected. He was arrested and released on a $50,000.00 bond.

BCSO also arrested Amanda Klaus, 41, on possession of a controlled substance. She was released on a $10,000.00 bond.
