Man arrested in Onslow on felony child sex abuse charges
A Maryland man was arrested by the Onslow County Sheriff's Office Special Victim's Unit last week on child sex offense charges, following similar charges still pending in Maryland.
Zachary Ian Iler, 40, of Odenton, Maryland was arrested on April 19 for allegedly inappropriately touching a juvenile, according to a news release on the OCSO Facebook page Tuesday. SVU Detective H. LaSorsa responded to a residence on Zachary Lane in Hubert on April 2 in reference to a sexual assault.

According to the release, the investigation revealed that the victim and Iler were known to each other prior to the incident, and that Iler had inappropriate contact of a sexual nature with the juvenile victim.
"Detectives learned that Iler was also arrested by Maryland law enforcement in May 2020," the release said, "and has cases pending in Maryland for two counts indecent exposure, two counts sex abuse of a minor, two counts sex offense third degree, two counts sex offense fourth degree, and two counts assault second degree."
For the Onslow incident, Iler was arrested and charged with felony statutory sex offense on a child by an adult, felony indecent liberties with a child, and crimes against nature, the release said.
The release also said Iler was brought before the magistrate for his initial appearance who placed him on a $100,000 unsecured bond for the local charges.
