A man has been arrested after a Sierra Spring Water truck was taken at knife-point and pursued early Thursday, according to a Lubbock County Sheriff's Office release.

About 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies learned that the Lubbock police were in pursuit of a Sierra Spring Water box truck. Police stopped their pursuit of the allegedly stolen vehicle, according to the release.

The truck drove onto North FM 1729 and East U.S. Highway 62-82 before crashing into a white Chevrolet Silverado. The Chevrolet's occupant followed the truck, allowing deputies to get updates on the truck's location, the release states.

Deputies picked up the pursuit on Interstate 27, going southbound, until the water truck stopped near North Regis Street. The driver exited the vehicle and was detained by deputies.

Police believe the driver had taken the vehicle at knife point, the release states. This is an ongoing investigation.

Kasie Whitley, public information office for Lubbock Police Department, stated the call for a disturbance came in at 6:05 a.m. A manager of Sierra Spring Water said someone came onto their yard early Thursday and took one of their vehicles.

"It was scary, but there are no injuries, and all deliveries are on schedule," he said.

Paul Naranjo, 35, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle, and an outstanding parole and pardon warrant. He remained in Lubbock County Detention Center with no bond listed as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
