Man arrested for alleged sale of methamphetamines

LAKE ARIEL, WAYNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Wayne County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday, that a Lake Ariel man has been arrested on numerous charges relating to methamphetamines.

According to Wayne County District Attorney, A.G. Howel, on Friday, February 9, Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) executed a search warrant in the 1500 block of Easton Turnpike, Lake Ariel, Wayne County, due to two separate occasions a “Confidential Informant” (CI) provided law enforcement with evidence that Joseph Phillips was selling methamphetamine from his home.

Police say upon arrival, Phillips along with three other people, Ashley Brown, Donald Lamberton, and Carol Defeice were located inside the home and detained as each had an active warrant out of Wayne and Pike Counties.

During the search law enforcement says several items were found that were seized as evidence.

According to police Phillips told PSP troopers that he flushed around 1/4 ounce of meth down the toilet before state police took him into custody.

Phillips was charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to deliver manufacture, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of criminal use of a communication facility, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Phillips was remanded to the Wayne County Prison after not being able to post $100,000 monetary bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21.
