Man arrested on shoplifting, trafficking charges in Decatur

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department (DPD) says that a man has been arrested after they responded to a Belk store on Tuesday.

According to DPD, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Belk located on Beltline Road SW. Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as Shawn Brown, who was arrested and charged with third-degree retail theft.

Upon further investigation, officers found a large amount of illegal substances including a trafficking amount of fentanyl mixture, hydrocodone pills, synthetic marijuana, suboxone, and marijuana in Brown’s possession.

Brown was then hit with additional charges, including trafficking in illegal drugs, possession of synthetic narcotics, possession of second-degree marijuana, tampering with physical evidence, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Brown was then transported to the Morgan County Jail and is being held on a $8,900 bond
