Man arrested on stolen weapon charges in Elmira

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A man was arrested on Tuesday following a domestic incident where police say he was found with a stolen weapon.

According to Elmira Police, Leroy A. Weekes was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 6, on the following charges:

  • Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony

  • Criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony

  • Menacing in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor

  • Assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor

  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor

Elementary school ‘heavily damaged’ after Ithaca police pursuit

Police say officers went to a home in the 500 block of Park Place on Tuesday around 7:48 p.m. for a domestic incident.

Police were able to find Weekes where they say officers found him with a Smith & Wesson M&P Bodyguard .380 handgun.

After an investigation, police determined that the weapon was stolen, with Weekes being arrested at the scene.
