Man arrested with suspected meth, gun near Wiley College

MARSHALL, Texas (KETK) – Harrison County law enforcement arrested a man after executing a narcotics search warrant in Marshall on Friday.

A property at 610 South Carter Street was searched and the sheriff’s office said investigators found around 36 grams of methamphetamines and a handgun.

Travis Keith Harris, 43, was detained at the property and charged with delivery of a controlled substance between four and 200 grams in a drug free zone, and officials said the property was less than 100 feet from Wiley College.

Harris was reportedly on parole at the time so he was also charged as a felon in possession of a firearm, according to jail records.

The Joint Harrison County Violent Crime and Narcotics Task Force, Marshall Police Department Special Response Team and Harrison County’s Emergency Response Team executed this search warrant and another search warrant on Friday.

Harrison County Sheriff Brandon J. Fletcher said he’s “pleased with the continuing coordinated effort of the Marshall Police Department and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office to put drug dealers and violent criminals behind bars.”
