Man arrested in 'suspicious' Mason County death

A man was jailed Friday in connection with a suspicious death in Goofy Ridge in rural Mason County, the Illinois State Police said Friday in a press release.

Paul A. Harris, 41, was arrested by ISP agents and Mason County Sheriff’s Office detectives on suspicion of first-degree murder and taken to the Mason County Jail, where he awaits a bond hearing, the release said.

At about 9:09 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 22000 block of Fleming Road in Goofy Ridge for a well-being check. Upon arriving, detectives found 69-year-old Paul D. Harris deceased near the home. An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday in Bloomington.
