Man’s body pulled from Weston pond near Bonaventure, sheriff’s office says

Broward Sheriff’s Office divers recovered a man’s body from a pond in Weston early Sunday after a passerby called 911.

Broward deputies, the dive team, and paramedics were called to the area shortly after 7:30 a.m., where divers located an “unresponsive adult male in the water,” according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Claudinne Caro.

Yellow police tape surrounded the pond’s perimeter Sunday near an entrance to the 23-acre Bonaventure Resort and Spa, which is closed and earmarked for redevelopment, according to WPLG News Channel 10.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel pronounced the man dead, Caro said, adding that detectives with the Traffic Homicide Unit were investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Lanes along Bonaventure Boulevard, just south of Interstate 75, off Racquet Club Road, were blocked off the investigation continued.

The man’s identity was not released by the sheriff’s office.

Investigators were seen removing a red, three-wheel motorcycle from the pond, WPLG reported.
