Man charged in connection with fatal Wilmington shooting earlier this month

A 30-year-old man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of another 30-year-old man in Wilmington's Price Run neighborhood earlier this month.

Quinton Jones was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Lamar Washington, who was shot in the 2300 block of N. Pine St. on Sept. 13.

Wilmington police were called there just before 3:45 p.m. for reports of the shooting. At the scene, they found Washington badly hurt.

Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital, where he died.

Following the shooting, at least two evidence markers could be seen at East 23rd and North Pine streets, where investigators looked for more evidence near the Bethel Pentecostal Church. Washington's clothing was on the pavement where first responders left it as they tried to save him.

Jones was taken into custody "without incident" on Thursday, police said, and was booked into jail early Friday morning. He's being held on $300,000 cash bail on the murder charge as well as two gun charges.
