Man charged for DUI after hitting Muscle Shoals police cruiser

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) – A Florence man was charged with a DUI Sunday night after hitting a Muscle Shoals police cruiser.

On Jan. 28 around 7 p.m., officers were on the Singing River Bridge helping a driver with car issues, according to the Muscle Shoals Police Department (MSPD).

While working on the car, a white Mitsubishi Outlander that officials say was driven by Timothy Wayne May, sideswiped the patrol vehicle and the car the officer was working on.

Several units with MSPD, the Muscle Shoals Fire Department, Keller EMS and ALEA Troopers assisted at the scene, and there were no reported injuries.

Following an investigation by state troopers, May was arrested for DUI. He is currently being held at the Colbert County Jail without bond.

The incident is is still under investigation by ALEA.
