Man charged in fatal Royal Oak Township shooting, police say
A 40-year-old mother was killed at an Oakland County car dealership Saturday and the shooting suspect turned himself in to authorities, Michigan State Police said.
The investigation into the fatal workplace shooting in Royal Oak Township is ongoing and has been sent to prosecutors for their review, police said. A message left for state police's second precinct Sunday was not immediately returned.
The incident started Saturday morning when state police troopers said they arrived at Legend Motors on West Eight Mile Road near Wyoming Street around 8:40 a.m. after reports of shots fired. The business lists its address in Ferndale; a message seeking comment from Legend Motors was not immediately returned Sunday.
Initially, state police said, "they found one female who had been shot and killed. A suspect is in custody and this appears to have been a domestic homicide. There is no danger to the public."

Additional investigation revealed reports of a man in a white Chevrolet Equinox shooting before driving away while a woman lay on the ground. Troopers publicly identified the deceased victim only as a 40-year-old woman from Sterling Heights.
Later that same morning, Detroit Police reported that that a 43-year-old man from Oak Park had turned himself to them in connection with the shooting. The suspect was arrested, but authorities did not immediately release his name.
State police said that the victim and suspect have a child in common. The suspected shooter was waiting for the victim at the car dealership, her place of employment, police said.
